Before you begin

Local SEO is about helping people find a business that serves a particular area. This page lets you explore business information and reviews from the supported services. It can help you understand how a business appears to someone researching it.

Open Channels and choose Local SEO. Decide which service you want to investigate before filling in the form: the available tabs include Google, Tripadvisor, and Yelp.

Using this page, step by step

  1. Choose the tab that matches the information you need. Read its input label, because some searches use a business query while others require a listing address.
  2. Enter the requested details. Include enough information to distinguish the business from others with a similar name, then review the estimate and submit.
  3. Allow the request to finish. Some results take time to become available, and the page checks for completion.
  4. Check that the returned name and location belong to the intended business. Read the listing details and available reviews together before taking action.

A worked example

If you manage a café called The Garden Room, searching only that name may find several businesses. Adding the town, where the form supports a search query, can make the intended listing easier to identify. Confirm the address before using its reviews to plan changes.

Understanding what you see

Reviews describe the experiences of people who chose to post them. Look for recurring themes rather than treating one unusually positive or negative review as the whole story.

Different services hold different information. A missing field or review does not prove that the business has none.

Common questions and problems

If you find the wrong business, refine the query or use the correct listing URL when the selected form asks for one.

If a request remains pending or fails, read the message before submitting again. Starting another request may incur another usage charge.
