Trends Explorer
Compare changes in interest in search topics over time, including seasonal patterns.
The tool opens in your Kwordia account. Dotted links explain terms in the glossary.
Before you begin
Trends Explorer helps you investigate when people become more or less interested in a topic. It is useful for planning the timing of research or content, and for comparing related phrases within the same set of settings.
Open Trends & Audience and choose Trends Explorer. Prepare a few related keywords and think about the period you want to understand.
Using this page, step by step
- Enter the keywords you want to compare and choose the location and date range.
- Select the search source that matches your question: Web, News, YouTube, Images, or Shopping. A topic can behave differently across those sources.
- Review the estimate and run the comparison. Read the chart across the full period before focusing on a particular peak.
- Investigate a repeated pattern or unusual change with the relevant page tools. For example, use Keyword Research to explore phrases around a seasonal topic.
A worked example
Interest in waterproof boots may rise at a different time from interest in summer walking sandals. Comparing them over a longer period can help you spot a seasonal pattern and plan when to prepare each guide.
Understanding what you see
Trend scores show relative interest, not a monthly search count. A high point means stronger interest within the comparison, not a specific number of searches.
Keep the settings consistent when making comparisons. A chart for UK Shopping searches answers a different question from one for worldwide News searches.
Common questions and problems
If the chart is sparse, try a broader phrase or a longer period. Very specific topics may have limited data.
